Easter Party Quilt-A-Long Kickoff!

 Easter Party
From Angie's Bits 'N Pieces

I can't believe the day is really here.
I hope your all as excited as I am about starting this Quilt-A-Long.

If you need a refresher on how this is going to work,
you can read all about it

You will find the pattern at Angies Quilt Pattern Shop

Today, I'm going to jump right in and get started with the first block.
It's all about the color!
Bold, bright and beautiful colors!

Island Batik has such bright and cheery colors, that will tickle anyone's toes.
These fabrics just make this quilt "pop".
From left to right, they are...

111518113 from the Country Fair Collection
111517075 from the Flower Fields Collection
111505101 from the Flower Fields Collection
111505100 from the Flower Fields Collection
111517141 from the Country Fair Collection
111504144 from the Country Fair Collection
111509193 from the Flower Fields Collection

The background for my blocks are going to be scrappy neutral colors.
It really give a quilt some depth.

I'm starting with "Vanilla" from the Neutrals collection.

This quilt is applique. You can choose which ever type you prefer. For me, it's all about the fusible.
;-)
Remember to cut your background fabrics 1 inch larger, regardless of what type of applique you choose. It will shrink up a bit, as you stitch.

Cupcakes!

This is your chance to go wild and crazy with the thread.

It's a great way to practice a little free motion stitching too.

Don't they look great all together, on our background fabric?

I like to give my blocks a good stream pressing before I trim them down.
That way I know they are nice and straight before I cut them.

I love how they pop, on this cheery batik.
111501076 from the Flower Fields Collection.

So break out those threads and join on in!
The nice thing about this quilt, is that the blocks are easy enough to complete in just an hour or two.
You don't have to commit a huge amount of time to get it done.
With our busy schedules, that's what we all need!

Oh, and thanks to the fine folks at Island Batik, we will be having give-a-ways
along the way...

How would you like to win one of these little bundles?

Grab my button for your blog...
(Ms Carol at FunThreads, worked so hard
to teach this ole dog a new trick)

Leave me a comment telling me if your going to join in with us...
and what colors you love!
I will select a winner next Saturday April 25th.

;-)

Til then...
Happy Stitchin!

  9. I'm not going to join in, it's not really my taste, but if you do another one for the Beetle Bug Love or Christmas Scotties quilt, I may just have to subscribe / buy the pattern. I like red and cream in general, but other colours too if the suit a project.

  21. I would so very much love to join you on this project, but I will have to just keep popping in to feast my eyes. I'm about to start a month long teaching job that will eat up every morsel of my time and mental capacity. If I were free to join, I'd be using purples, lime green and hot pink!

  22. I have never done a quilt along before. I will check out the details though. I don't have a ton of time to sew, as I have three year old twins. They are quite the handful. Plus I have school and a part time job. Sewing gets shoved in the cracks of time I have. The cupcakes are so much fun! I love cupcakes and my daughter would just adore having them. Thank you so much for the chance to win.

    1. No, I am sure she would not. It was on her Applique Garden and once it leaves there, it goes right into her shop. I asked for permission to use the pattern, but the agreement was that it would need to be purchased by those participating.
