Kennel Kwilt Krazy!

I told you last week that there was a lotta sewin' goin on at Quilt Club...
and we made it happen again this week.
Joi, delivered 43 Kennel Quilts to the Denver Dumb Friends League on Wednesday.
We recently received lots of Christmas fabric, to make kennel quilts with.
Many cats and dogs from Puerto Rico made there way here to Denver after the hurricane.
"Sew" we fired up our machines and went to work
Mach speed, it's said we were stitching.
LOL!!
Making sure all these new lil ones have a warm and comfy blanket for the holidays.

Isis King at the DDFL, was very appreciative. The Furry Friends from Puerto Rico are being adopted. and the Kennel Quilts are going home with the newly adopted pets. They have some in their "Mobile Unit" when they go to Special Adoption events around the Denver area.
Sounds like it's a win win for everyone!
If you would like to help out by making some kennel quilts for your local shelter
or the many in need across the country, we would love your help.
Check it out
Enjoy, all you little 4 legged friends!

Til next time...

Early Rise

I'm not an early riser most days...
but today, I was awake before the sun.
There was a beautiful glow on the horizon as I jumped out of the shower,
so I grabbed my camera.
I love those days were I see a pink glow on the old car pond.
Even "outhouse heaven" caught it...
but it didn't last long.
In a blink of an eye, things turned yellow.
Yes, it's frost you see on top of the fire pit cover.
Freezing out here.
So I headed in for my morning "cuppa".

The sunrise was icing on the cake this morning, but it's a melancholy
kinda day. I can't quit thinking about the sewing world loosing Nancy Zieman yesterday.
Many of us grew up watching "Sewing with Nancy".
I was fortunate enough to be able to work for her at
"Sewing Weekend" for a few years.
What fun times those were. Nancy was incredible to all of us.
A little piece of me couldn't help but think today,
that that beautiful sunrise was Nancy's spirit shining thru.
Promising us, beauty and joy here on earth.
Nancy, you will be missed, but I know the heavens have found a creative force,
 like no other.
Keep them in stitches girl.
Hugs to your friends and family, who are dearly missing you.

Thank a Veteran

If your alive to see scenes like this...
You need to thank a Veteran!

Some times it's easy to get caught up,
but take a minute to truly appreciate what we really have, in this great nation.

Some Sewin Goin On

Yesterday was quilt club...
and yes, there was some sewin goin on.
Finally that is!
We have laughed at how little we have accomplished lately.
Enjoying great food and good laughs, but as for stitching...
Well, that just hasn't happened!
Yesterday was a cold gloomy sort of day... call it that, or the fact that
Joi decided enough was enough.
LOL!!!
She went to work putting together kits for us to stitch up out of her stash.
Her inspiration...a photo in a magazine.
That sure brought some color to our cold icky day!
Makes you stop and think doesn't it.
How easy it is to draw up something from a photo you see.
Inspiration... that's what it's all about.
Well, that and the need to bust thru more stash than we will use in this lifetime!
Hahahaha
Anyone else feel that pain?

Creative Borders and Binding...Oct Island Batik wrap up

It's always fun to see what the Island Batik Ambassadors come up with monthly,
on the challenges that we are given!
But this month...
WOW, did they rise to the occasion.
I'm blown away with their creativity and it's really opened my eyes to new possibilities.
Check it out for  yourselves.

You can read up more on each of these projects, from the links below.
You'll want to be sure to check back in a few days...
We've had some very busy ladies with Quilt Market in Houston.
They have the petal to the metal and are working away on their projects now!
I will update this post with more fabulous inspiration, soon
;-)

Quilt'n Party

Thanksgiving Thanks!

It's always fun to see your readership go up from time to time.
I like to check it out and see what's got your attention.
This week when I saw a big spike in a post that I wrote back in 2012,
I had to know what the buzz was about.
Looks like Quilt Inspirations has updated their Thanksgiving free pattern post
to include my Dresden Turkey.
See him there...5th one down on the right?
Here's a better shot of him.
I made this guy and a table runner for a "Dots on Dots" blog hop, 5 years ago now.
You can see more on this and still download a free pattern for the turkey applique
Don't laugh too hard...this was my very first try at making a pattern.
Not that things have improved much since then!
LOL!!!

Check out Quilt Inspirations free Thanksgiving pattern post
What a privilege to be included with so many talented quilters.
Thanks Quilt Inspiration.
NOTE: If you have never seen their blog, you really need to check it out.
Loads of great inspiration and links for tons of free patterns.

Sun, Sand and Sea BOM

November is here and for many of us in the US,
it's time to put away those beach clothes.
But not us, Sun Sand and Sea'ers!
LOL!!
We are off to make some waves this month.
Thanks to Amy at "Sew Incredibly Crazy", we have some fabulous waves,
 for our quilt.
You can pop in on Amy for the link for this fun addition
Remember all blocks are free until the end of each month,
then they are available for a small fee.
Thanks to "Island Batik" for sponsoring my quilt.
I just love how bright and cheery these fabrics are
and how well they play with each other.
:-)

This month Amy, you got me to thinking...
I've long been in love with the "Shakespeare in the Park" quilt pattern,
by Judy Martin.
Check out these photos
It was so fun making this row, that I need to quit procrastinating
and get busy on my own Shakespeare!
:-)
Sew, get in on the fun and make yourself some waves!
