Where do I start??

There's so much to share. Last weekend in Anchorage, I went to the Great Alaska Quilt Show. It was a guild show that was just fantastic. They have some incredibly talented gals in this group. I was particularly delighted with the fact that they seem to love art quilting. Something I have longed to do, but really not taken the time to experiment with. After seeing these lovely quilts, that just might need to change for me...

My favorite!

Then this one that blew me away!  Just look at the fabulous details!

or
Is this just the best. What a great way to play with those embroidery designs I have saved up. She used real silk leaves on it, which gave it wonderful dimension!

But, not to be outdone by the great shape of it!  Now does this just make you want to run screaming in delight, to your sewing machine!

Carol Wright Jones was the artist of most of the dimensional quilts. I love how she used fabrics with texture to create such lovely pieces of art. Now I have to research to see just what those fabrics are. Anyone have any idea??? Please do share with me, if you do!

The Last Supper quilt and it's artist was there too! That deserves a post of it's own, so that will be coming soon.

Do you remember my post for the Blocks Across the World book being written by Deb Gabel???  Well, I just heard that my quilt was 1 of 7 accepted to be on rolling cart tote bag they are making to kick off the book.

Product Specifications:
21.5"(L) x 14"(W) x 7.25"(D) tote bag with Velcro closure, carry straps and collapsible wheels on the bottom. Assorted contributor's blocks featured on the bag. Bar code, copyright and C&T logo/address information to be printed directly on the bottom of the tote bag. Image of book by author shown/promoted on the bottom of the bag. Handles are color coordinated to match the bag. Tote is made from 100% recycled plastics, primarily plastic water bottles. Matte finished. Water-resistant. Ships and stores flat for storage.

Now is that too cool or what??  I am not sure if I am more excited to be a part of the book and rolling tote, or seeing my quilt photographed by a professional photographer.

My last photo to share was my view last night.

May all your quilting days end up like this!  :-)

  2. Beautiful art quilts....favorite is the tree branches on the pieced background. Reminds me of our trip to AK. Thanks so much for sharing. The last photo looks like an art quilt to me. Those colors beg me to find fabric like them.

  7. Love this post. I am always amazed at art quilts as they are like paintings using thread and fabric. Love the Raven one and I was thinking when I saw the closing photo you could use that as a base idea for a night time one of your own. Congrats on being included in the book with the tote.
    Cheers,

  8. What an honor!! You must be so thrilled. I can't believe you even popped onto my tiny blog. I feel so unworthy with all you creative quilt artists out there. I would give anything to see the Last Supper in person. I would simply humble me to no end to see such a work of art and realize the time, effort, and creative process that had to go into each 1/2 in. block. Thank you for sharing. I had never seen or heard of it before.. Would you mind if I shared your picture of the quilt and gave you credit? I would love to share such a work of art to my local quilt friends down here in the south. I love those little totes you made as well. I do believe you might have the golden touch whenever you pick up needle and thread.
    Blessings
