It's a "Wild" Life BOM

It's June 1 and there's a new block to share.
This month our friend Pat from "Life in the Scrapatch"
has done a stellar job, on this new block.
Don't "whooooooo" agree with me?
:-)
If this isn't just the cutest thing I've ever seen!
I did make one little change, from Pat's design.
I  love me "some" mushrooms, not only to eat but to hunt for.
So I made a little "mushroom" forest on my block.
It was an easy change using the bush pattern pieces.

If you think I'm kidding about loving mushrooms...
 Here's some proof!  LOL!!
Oh and these are definitely "NOT" for eating!
Just a few of my many mushroom photos.
You can't find "shrooms" like these around here...
Nope, I have to visit my Alaska friends to get photos like these.
Just another reason, why I love Alaska!
:-)
Ok...I got a little excited and side tracked. Must be time for another trip!
You can find Pat's fabulous addition to "Wild Life"
Remember it's free for the month of June only.
After that it will be available for a small fee.
I'm loving where this BOM is going!

A big shout out to "Island Batik" for sponsoring me with these gorgeous fabrics.
They are all from the basics and blenders line, which is available all the time.
No more searching for "just a little more" to finish a project.

Thanks to Amy at "Sew Incredibly Crazy" for hosting this BOM
You can find links to all the blocks

A big thanks to my fellow designers

Carol from "Just Let Me Quilt"

Make sure you post your finished block on our Facebook page.
There are monthly prizes we draw for!

One more thing...
I was blown away with all the "Bear Paw" blocks you
 stitched and shared last month.
Give yourself a big round of applause, cause you knocked it out of the ball park!
You all "ROCK"

What is GDPR and what does it mean?

General Data Protection Rule
And it's reeking havoc with our comments.
It's all about security, and I get it.
BUT...that doesn't mean I can't be irritated, that as a society, we are driven to this.
Basically, it's not OK for anyone to see your avatar, name, email address...
All the things we use, for not only responding and communicating
with our blogging buddies, but also for our give-aways!
I'm not sure just how this will effect Rafflecopter,
which is what many of us use for give-aways.

Just so you know...
My little personal blog, about my love of quilting, does not, has and will never
share personal information with anyone else.
I'm approaching my 10 year blog-iversary, and this is making me so sad.
:-(
I've met so many wonderful people across the globe,
who love quilting as much as I do.
I'm still here, and I will do my best to keep up the communications, with all of you.
I can't bare the thought of not sharing a good tale or quilting woe with you.
HAHAHAHA
Carol at Just Let Me Quilt wrote a post, on a bit of a work around for now...
I've linked her post for you.

Basically for now, if you check the Notify me box in the lower right corner,
I will get an email. The issue for me is, I have always used AOL.
Yes, I'm one of those old school users.
LOL!!
I've had AOL since the dark ages and have grown with it.
I find it much easier to navigate than these new platforms!
Now it's going to my Gmail account. I've tried to change that and failed.
"Sew" I have to figure out how to access Gmail on my desktop.
(Can you see me rolling my eyes here???)
I'm sure it's not nearly as difficult as I want to make it!
;-)

This is what I see, when I post the comment.
I still see my avatar, and my screen name.
Maybe because I am not an open ID user???

This is a screen shot of what it looks like when I leave a comment on Carols post.
This is the email I got back...
I'm still a noreply blogger I see?????
NOTE:You do not want to check email follow-up comments,
as you will get them for everyone who comments on the post.
I was testing things here.

But there is the scoop, if you have felt ignored.
We are trying here! No thanks to GDPR!

On a happier note...
I'm working on my "Fabulous Freebie" blog hop project.
I've still have some openings.
Would you like to join in?
All you need is to show off a fabulous "free" pattern, or tutorial you found online.
You must link it with a current and working link, and give credit where credit is due.

Blog Hoppin'...and a brand new hop!

I hope you have been enjoying  the
"Wish Upon a Star"
blog hop that Carol from "Just Let me Quilt" is hosting this week...
Oh my stars...the inspiration my fellow bloggers have to offer!
Next month sweet Carla from "Creatin' in the Sticks" is hosting
July brings us back to Carol again, with
You know I can sit on the sidelines and root on my blogging buddies all day long!
But...I had an idea...
We have an incredibly talented group online, who are always willing to share.
So I'd like to host a "Fabulous Freebies" blog hop.
A place where we can show off our favorite "quilty" pattern, or tutorial.
Even my button is free compliments of okcclipart.com

The rules are simple, if you sign up, please follow thru on your day to post.
There is nothing more disappointing than no-shows.
It can be your own design or a favorite you found online, but they must be free
and they must have a current working link, or a tutorial in the post, so we can all enjoy them.
Give credit where credit is due. If it's not your personal design or pattern,
tell us who's it is!
(It's always a nice courtesy, to let said person know
your going to use their pattern for the hop)
Quilts, throw, bags, totes, mugrugs...
Whatever your lil fabric lovin' heart desires!
Are you in???
If so, email me at Calicojoan@aol.com

Any date preferences.
(I'll do my best to work around them)

Wish Upon a Star Blog Hop

I love the fact, that Carol just can't stand to be idle.
Give her a free minute and her mind "seams" to go right
to another fun blog hop idea!
I'm always ready to jump on board and bust thru some of my stash.
I think the reality that I have more stash than years to live,
has started to settle in...Well, that and the fact that I just acquired 5 boxes
of fabric from a gentleman who's wife passed away.
It's always a treasure trove when you go thru someone else's stash.
I found this 60" wide piece of sweatshirt material...
Fleece is a great backing on quilts, so why not try this?
Back in 2016, Pat Sloan had a pattern for a bumble bee pouch
that you can find it
A plan was hatched and I was off and running!
Star blocks are so versatile.
My favorite way of designing is to make it up on the fly...
ummm that would be "bee" in this case!
LOL!!!!
I made up enough blocks to fit the size backing I had.
Then played around with layout ideas.
A little backwards, I know.
I keep saying I'm going to learn to use that EQ program I had to have...
but even I know it's not going to happen anytime soon!
:-)
UPDATE...I've had a few of you ask about using sweatshirt material for the backing.
It worked great on the long arm, and I didn't use any batting, so it
makes for a nice lightweight "summer" quilt! This was a happy experiment,
and I will be looking at this for future backings!
It was not without one of those "oh crap" moments.
Sadly, they happen all more frequently than I prefer to admit here.
LOL!!
Now, if you've made star blocks before,
you know there are lots of leftover half square triangles.
Being on that waste not, want not crazy...
I started stitching and trimming the extras.
What a fun way to use it, not loose it!
This bundle of joy measures 28" x 37".
Or would that be "bumble" of joy?
They looks so bright and springy in my back yard oasis.
LOL!
We've been busy in the oasis.
Toilets to plant and a new bathtub to fill
This sweet new addition is Buster!
If you look closely, he is peeing in a bucket!
LOL!!!!!
My family had him made for me for Christmas.
For those of you who have followed me for awhile,
you know my sense of humor tends to run off the rails, from time to time.
This is another one of those time.
:-)
Yep, what can I say...
...but welcome to my crazy fun world!
hahahahaha
My fellow bloggers have been gazing up into the stars
and have lots to share with you too.
Stop in and see em.

Playful Pillows with Island Batik

This month the Island Batik Ambassadors are playing with pillows,
 in our monthly challenge.
Around here, that means the "moose are loose" again!
What could be more playful, than this wild guy.
You almost need to break out the "shades" just to look at him.
:-)
He is part of  the "Red Boot Quilt Company's" "Northern Exposure" pattern.
These "Island Batik" fabrics are from numerous lines.
I love mixing and matching, because they play so well together.
Mother's Day was this week, and my kids spoiled me rotten.
He just looks so darn cute with all these flowers!
A bit of tip-toeing thru the tulips, you could say.
LOL!!
One of the biggest joy's of being an ambassador is getting to play with the fabrics
they send us. Thanks "Island Batik". It's quite a privilege!
