Christmas in July Blog Hop

Dashing thru the heat, in an air conditioned car!
Oh...that's not how the song is suppose to go is it?
What can I say, its been in the near triple digits for way too long, here.
Carol must have known that we need a little reprieve,
and start thinking about those cooler days ahead.

Finding a project for this hop, was an easy one for me.
You see, when I was in Lancaster PA earlier this year, we met some gals...
They were working on this quilt, that I just had to have.
Before I even left the building, I had googled where to get the pattern.
Here's my "First Snow"
This fun scrap buster is paper pieced.
It was so much fun to see my village come together, and then play with
embellishing things.
I dug thru my Christmas stash, looking for little appliques,
that could be cut from fabrics.
What a great way to use up those special buttons and beads.

Finding the perfect little pieces for the doors...
All added to the fun.
I do hope I've inspired you to get your "First Snow" on.
If your as crazy over this pattern as I am, you can find it
HERE
Paper piecing can be a bit overwhelming for some.
I myself, used to hate it with a passion.
(A great teacher in a class I took years ago, cured that for me)
LOL!!
This pattern is probably geared towards someone
who is comfortable with the process.
If your a confident beginner...I'd say jump right in.
Cause the weather outside is frightful...
but the air conditioning inside is delightful.
What better time to sew...let it sew, let it sew, let it sew!
Thanks for visiting today.
Be sure to visit my fellow bloggers,
as it's beginning to look like Christmas at their houses too!

  4. A beautiful project. It took a great teacher to help me to learn to love paper piecing too. No air conditioning on here this week being in South Australia we have the cold weather. Thinking about it next time I do a Christmas in July project I should feature snow as in December is too hot for a snow inspired project.

  8. Hi Joan! I love the project you shared with us today! My bestie and I used to own a cross stitch shop, and we made many a village from that craft but have never ventured into a quilted one. Yet. You have inspired me to find this pattern (thank you for the link!) and send the details to my friend. She will definitely be interested, I'm sure. Oh how fun to dig through your stash for just the perfect fabrics. Great job! Happy Monday! ~smile~ Roseanne
