My favorite Max Fleischer show was "Hoppity Goes to Town" about a lot of bugs (good and bad) that need a new home and all the trials and tribulations they go through. I found it on DVD! I was so so thrilled!!!! I just checked Amazon and they have two used ones-one is 99.99 and the other is 179.00-unbelievably outrageous!!! If I was a billionaire I wouldn't pay that much-so glad I got mine at a reasonable price. They used to show it right after Gulliver's Travel every Thanksgiving when I was a youngin". Anyway I love Max Fleischer's works. All the cartoons are great from back then....Felix the Cat, Popeye, the old Mickey, In the 70's I would draw the "Keep on Truckin'" guy and he looks like he was created in that era. I even like music older than me like Minnie the Moocher (I think they had a cartoon of Betty Boop dancing to it or something similar) and love love love the hilarious Beans and Cornbread by Louis Jordan. It used to be a theme song for a tv show "Dinner and a Movie". They would whip up a recipe between the movie and the commercials. I hunted cyberspace until I found out who it was by. Now fabric is coming out with Jungle Book and Yogi Bear. How fun is that? I need a picnic basket lining for Yogi since he was always trying to steal them. hahaha Natureluvr57https://www.blogger.com/profile/14487510996211307516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671331723830182656.post-19619607165466019752016-05-18T20:58:46.867-06:002016-05-18T20:58:46.867-06:00Way Cool, my step mom adored Betty also, and while...Way Cool, my step mom adored Betty also, and while I knew she originated in the 30's, I didn't know she started out as a dog.. I love how you took the inspiration away from traditional painters because I agree with you that cartoon art is an amazing art form often overlooked! Your bags are just too cute and the mini quilt is so modern and artistic! Thanks for joining the hop!!AlidaPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06967934556463918222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671331723830182656.post-22293966287525986342016-05-14T07:28:54.297-06:002016-05-14T07:28:54.297-06:00Oh! I love her and did a quilt showcasing my collection of her stuff! In fact a friend just sent me a lovely silver ornament of her, lol. Back to your art... so cool. So inventive. And I like your blog a lot. I'm going to tour around a bit after this. Those betty flowers are adorable.
When you have time, come see my collections quilt with Betty. here's the link
http://lapaylor.blogspot.com/2014/04/cool-collections-its-not-tacky-its.html
don't know how to make it a direct link in comments.
LeeAnna at Not Afraid of colorLA Paylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06553491768819243802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671331723830182656.post-8207768829461927582016-05-14T01:28:06.614-06:002016-05-14T01:28:06.614-06:00You are the last one in the blog hop and a perfect...You are the last one in the blog hop and a perfect finish. I admired all the art pieces and their artists. I am a fan of Betty Boop and your bags. (I read the tutotial, thanks.) Your interpretation of Alida's blog hop is one with a smile and a less serious interpretation. I am afraid when I remember Alida's blog hop I will see your bags with Betty Boops and I laugh.
